Jerome Frankel - Founder

Jerry Frankel was born on February 15, 1912, in Cleveland, Ohio and raised there.

He graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula, MT., in 1934 with a degree in botany and forestry and worked as a Ranger in Yellostone National Park while an undergraduate. He later joined the Frankel Brothers Insurance Agency in Cleveland, Ohio, an agency founded by his father in 1912, where he became a senior partner and retired after 50 years of service.

He was married for 72 years to the late Beatrice E. (Bee) Frankel, father of Charles and Richard Frankel. Now at 100+ years he is not only a Father, but a Grandfather, Great Granfather and a Great Great Grandfather.

Jerry’s activites include Founder of the International Association of Jewish Free Loans and is a Lifetime Trustee, Past President of the Cleveland Hebrew Free Loan Association, Co-Founder of the Suburban Temple – Kil Ami, Beachwood, Ohio, Past President of the Exchange Club of the Heights of Cleveland and Past Board Member of the Animal Protective League of Cleveland.


Volunteer activites included:

  • Natural History Museum of Cleveland
  • Animal Protective League of Cleveland
  • Now retired, Jerry just enjoys life and his family.
